Philadelphia Phillies, Q102 to Host "Tailgate for the Cure" on Thursday

New charity event to benefit breast cancer

09/11/2007 -- On Thursday, Sept. 13, the Philadelphia Phillies and Q102 Radio's "Booker Show" will host a unique Tailgate for the Cure to fight breast cancer. The event, which is supported by Hatfield Quality Meats and local participating Chevrolet dealers, will feature a "Tent Party Package" (sold out in twenty minutes) and a "Game Package" (still available) for fans of all ages.

A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Kimmel Cancer Center at Jefferson, a national cancer institute and designated cancer center dedicated to the discovery and development of novel approaches to cancer treatment.

This unique package sold out within 20 minutes. Nearly 500 fans will mingle with members of Q102's "Booker Show", the Phillies Ballgirls, Philadelphia Phillies announcers and other local media, sports VIP's and special guests at this pre-game tent party. Guests will enjoy complimentary hot dogs, cheesesteaks, soft pretzels and soft drinks. All attendees will also receive an official Tailgate for the Cure T-shirt, plus a ticket to the 7:05 p.m. Phillies-Rockies game.

Breast Cancer Statistics
Approximately three million women in the United States are currently living with breast cancer. Breast cancer is the second most common cancer in U.S. women, kills approximately 40,000 each year and is the leading cause of death for women between the ages of 40 and 55. Another 200,000 new cases are diagnosed annually.
