ESPN.com, ESPN Mobile TV Introduce Two Original Digital Football Programs
- Countdown Daily Online Football Show Hosted by Trey Wingo;
- Fantasy Football Now Live, Interactive Show Sundays Pre-Kickoff
September 6, 2007 -- ESPN announced today the launch of two original programs for its digital media platforms, ESPN.com and ESPN Mobile TV. Countdown Daily presented by IBM and Fantasy Football Now both debut this week and are produced exclusively for fans to find online and on cell phones.
Countdown Daily - ESPN.com, ESPN Mobile TV – Weekdays and Sunday
ESPN brings pro football experts from Sunday NFL Countdown and NFL Live online with the new, daily, original program entitled Countdown Daily. The show, which premiered this week on ESPN.com, is hosted by Trey Wingo and will run between 12-15 minutes in length. In its first three days Countdown Daily has averaged more than half a million plays per day.
A daily, digital companion to ESPN’s Emmy Award-winning pre-game show, Sunday NFL Countdown, Countdown Daily will feature daily up-to-the minute news and information about the league, the players and that week’s match ups. Viewers can stay up to date on the latest injury reports and standings and interact with ESPN’s NFL talent through fan video submissions, conversation pages and SportsNation polls.
Features on NFL Countdown Daily will include:
* Daily segments from NFL Live talent, including a Friday Pigskin Pick ‘em where analysts share their picks for the week;
* Original interviews and analysis from John Clayton, Keyshawn Johnson, Sean Salisbury Mark Schlereth and more;
* Excerpts from NFL coaches’ news conferences;
* Original segments from Scouts Inc. analysts including Jeremy Green and Todd McShay;
* ESPN Studio “demonstration field” play breakdowns;
* NFL Draft pick projections;
* Updates on injury reports, standings, results and schedules;
* Team by team divisional notes covering several teams each day;
* Video from the “Best of the ESPN.com Blogs” including Matt Mosely’s “Hash Marks;”
* Fantasy reports from ESPN’s fantasy experts Matthew Berry and Eric Karabell.
Daily Countdown will be available Monday-Friday on ESPN.com throughout the NFL season, with a special Sunday morning edition every week.
Fantasy Football Now -- ESPN.com, ESPN Mobile TV – Sundays, Noon (ET)
ESPN.com will launch its first live, original program with the Sept. 9 debut of Fantasy Football Now, which will also be available live on ESPN Mobile TV (via Verizon Wireless’ V Cast service). Each Sunday, Fantasy Football Now will provide final-hour insights for millions of fantasy football players around the world. The weekly, live program will feature a full hour of advice, tips, insights, news and analysis that takes players right up to kickoff and will be hosted by ESPN’s Eric Kusileas and feature ESPN.com’s Berry, Nate Ravitz and Molly Qerim. The program will take player questions via email, text message and call-in.
Fantasy Football Now follows ESPNEWS Fantasy Insider, which airs at 11 a.m. and is hosted by Merrill Hoge and features Howie Schwab and Berry.
