09/05/2007 -- On Friday, September 7 at Turner Field, Tim Hudson will be honored for the second straight year as the Atlanta Braves recipient of the Roberto Clemente Award presented by Chevrolet. He is now one of the 30 nominees for the national Roberto Clemente Award which is given annually to the Major League Baseball player who combines outstanding skills on the baseball field with devoted work in the community.

As the Braves recipient of the Roberto Clemente Award, Tim will receive a $7500 grant from Chevrolet that he will donate to the Anna's Angel Fund, a non-profit organization established by a young Atlanta-area cancer patient that offers financial assistance to youth battling pediatric cancer.

The Roberto Clemente Award recognizes those players who best exemplify the game of baseball through sportsmanship, community involvement and positive contributions to their teams. The award is named for Clemente, a 12-time All-Star and Hall of Famer who was killed on New Year's Eve 1972 while delivering supplies to earthquake victims in Nicaragua. This award helps perpetuate Clemente's memory and character by recognizing current-day players who truly understand the value of helping others.

Throughout the year, Tim and his wife Kim generously support several organizations including the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Children's Healthcare of Atlanta, Anna's Angels, the Atlanta Braves Foundation and more.

• As ambassadors for the Make-A-Wish Foundation the Hudsons hosted ten "Wish Visits" at Turner Field in 2007.

• Served as honorary co-chairs for the "Celebration of Wishes" black-tie gala helping to raise nearly $300,000 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

• Co-hosted the "John Smoltz/Tim Hudson/Jeff Francoeur Atlanta Braves Celebrity Am Golf Tournament", raising $281,000 for Children's Healthcare of Atlanta.

• Hosted the "Tim Hudson Birdies & Baseball Celebrity Amateur" golf tournament raising $88,000 for Children's Healthcare of Atlanta.

• Purchased 15 season tickets for the Braves "Reach Out, Be Our Guest" program, to be donated to underprivileged youth.

• Hosted "Holidays with the Hudsons" for Make-A-Wish children in December, taking 75 youth on a shopping spree and donating $50 Toys-R-Us gift cards for all Wish Kids and their siblings.

• Participated in Atlanta Braves Foundation and community affairs initiatives including Braves Power Lunch, Jerseys Off Our Backs, and Christmas in July visits to metro Atlanta children's hospitals.
