Minnesota Twins to Recall Kevin Slowey

Minnesota Twins select contract of Nick Blackburn

09/02/2007, Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN - The Minnesota Twins announced that they will recall righthanded pitcher Kevin Slowey from Triple-A Rochester in time for tomorrow's game vs. the Cleveland Indians. He will start for the Minnesota Twins on Tuesday vs. the Cleveland Indians. Slowey was 10-5, 1.89 (133.2 ip, 28 er) with 18 walks and 107 strikeouts in 20 starts for the Red Wings this season, including five complete games. In seven starts for the Twins, Slowey is 3-0, 5.84 (37.0 ip, 24 er) with nine walks and 19 strikeouts.

In addition, the Minnesota Twins will also select the contract of righthanded pitcher Nick Blackburn from Triple-A Rochester. Blackburn, 25, began the season at Double-A New Britain, going 3-1, 3.08 (38.0 ip, 13 er) with seven walks and 18 strikeouts in eight appearances (seven starts). He also made 17 starts with Rochester, going 7-3, 2.11 (110.2 ip, 26 er) with 12 walks and 57 strikeouts. Blackburn will wear uniform number 53.
