Texas Rangers Activate Hank Blalock, Recall Edinson Volquez
09/01/2007, ARLINGTON, Texas -- Texas Rangers general manager Jon Daniels announced today the club has activated INF Hank Blalock from the 60-day disabled list and has recalled RHP Edinson Volquez from Triple-A Oklahoma.
Hank Blalock has been on the disabled list since May 17 while recovering from thoracic outlet syndrome. Before going on the disabled list, he appeared in 39 games for the Texas Rangers and batted .285 with five home runs and 16 RBI.
Edinson Volquez, who will be the Texas Rangers starter today at Los Angeles, has spent the entire season in the minor leagues. He is 14-6, 3.67 this season combined at Class-A Bakersfield, Double-A Frisco and Oklahoma.
