Weekend of Multicultural Events with the Philadelphia Phillies, September 7-8
Goya Latino Family Celebration with food drive & Irish Heritage Day to feature entertainment, delicacies & special ticket discounts
08/30/2007 -- The Philadelphia Phillies will host a weekend of special events that pay tribute to Hispanic Heritage Month and Irish Heritage Day before and during the upcoming games against the Florida Marlins at Citizens Bank Park:
Goya Latino Family Celebration with Food Drive, Friday, September 7, 7:05 p.m.
Entrance gate highlights:
* Food collection for Philabundance, hosted by Goya Foods, Inc. and Toyota: Fans are asked to donate Goya food products in Toyota trucks at entrance gates. Goya will match a minimum of 5,000 pounds of food and Toyota will also donate a significant amount of food.
* Entertainment celebrating Latino culture: First Base Gate - Salsa & Cha-Cha Band; Third Base Gate - Bomba Band; Left Field Gate & Right Field Gate - Salsa Couples.
On-field highlights, beginning at 6:30 p.m.
* Music and dancing by Bachata favorite Toby Love and the phenomenal Fuego Dance Company (Philadelphia).
* Tribute of 21 flags of Latino countries presented by Concilio and the Fuego Dance Company.
* The presentation of the Phillies 2007 Latino Legend award to Larry Rojas.
* Robert Unanue, President of Goya Foods, Inc., will throw out the ceremonial first pitch.
* Performances by the K Company Dance team with the Phillie Phanatic during the 5th & 7th innings
Authentic Goya food will be available on the main concourse in the Left Field Plaza.

Irish Heritage Day, Saturday, September 8, 3:55 p.m.
Entrance gate highlights:
* Learn how to Irish dance at the First Base Gate and Left Field Gate through instruction by the Lynn Academy of Irish Dance (Audubon, NJ) and Cummins School of Irish Dance (Philadelphia).
* Enjoy live music by the Bogside Rogues (Philadelphia) at the Third Base Gate.
On-field highlights, beginning at 6:30 p.m.
* Watch a great Irish tribute with the Phanatic, Lynn Academy of Irish Dance and Cummins School of Irish Dance.
* First pitch thrown by Brian Morris, pitcher for the Irish National Baseball team from 2002-2005.
* National Anthem sung by local Irish singer Vincent Gallagher
Food featuring Irish delicacies will be offered at various concession stands.
The Phillies will be donating equipment for both youth and adult baseball programs in Ireland.
