Eight Players from Texas Rangers Organization to Participate in Arizona Fall League

08/27/2007, ARLINGTON, Texas -- Eight players from the Texas Rangers organization have been selected to play for the Surprise Rafters in the Arizona Fall League.
Pitcher Josh Rupe and infielder Joaquin Arias are the only two players on the 40-man roster scheduled to participate. Rupe has been on the 60-day DL since June 16 sore right elbow. Arias has missed the entire 2007 season while recovering from injuries.
Also participating are catcher Taylor Teagarden, infielder German Duran, outfielder John Mayberry Jr. and pitchers Kea Kometani, Daniel Herrera and newly acquired Matt Harrison. All are currently assigned to Double-A Frisco.
Texas Rangers catching coordinator Damon Berryhill will coach the Rafters. The team is comprised of major and minor league players from the Los Angeles Angels, Cleveland Indians, Cincinnati Reds, Kansas City Royals and Rangers organizations. The Rafters will play home games at Surprise Stadium, Texas' spring training facility.
The Fall League begins its 16th season on Tuesday, Oct. 9. The teams will play 12:35 p.m. and 7:05 p.m. games Mondays-Saturdays in five Phoenix-area Cactus League stadiums (Mesa, Peoria, Phoenix, Scottsdale, Surprise), concluding with the annual league championship game on Saturday, Nov. 17. The second annual "Rising Stars Showcase" is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 26 at Surprise Stadium.
