San Francisco Giants Acquire Infielder Travis Denker from Los Angeles Dodgers
Trade completes Mark Sweeney trade
08/26/2007, SAN FRANCISCO -- The San Francisco Giants have acquired 22-year-old second baseman Travis Denker from the Los Angeles Dodgers as the player to be named later in the Aug. 9 trade that sent infielder Mark Sweeney to Los Angeles, club Senior Vice President and General Manager Brian Sabean announced today.
The 5-9, 193-pound infielder hit .294 (118-for-402) with 65 runs, 27 doubles, three triples, 10 home runs, 57 RBI and eight stolen bases for single-A Inland Empire of the California League this year. Originally Los Angeles' 21st round selection in the 2003 First-Year Player Draft, the Brea, CA product owns a .278 lifetime batting average (466-for-1,678) with 278 runs, 97 doubles, seven triples, 64 home runs, 261 RBI and 17 stolen bases in 476 minor league contests over five seasons.
