26 August 2007 -- New York Yankees pitcher Chien-ming Wang continued his dominance of Major League Baseball's defending American League champion Detroit Tigers with a 7-2 victory Saturday.
Wang has five wins and no losses against the Detroit Tigers this season, along with a no decision.
The pitcher from Taiwan improved his overall record to 15-6 this year with Saturday's victory.
Detroit Tigers pitcher Jeremy Bonderman suffered his sixth straight loss after posting a 10-1 record to start the season.
Boston Red Sox pitcher Tim Wakefield joined teammate Josh Beckett as the only 16-game winners in the majors this season, as the Red Sox crushed the Chicago While Sox, 14-2.
The Cleveland Indians defeated the Kansas City Royals, 9-4. The Minnesota Twins thumped the Baltimore Orioles, 8-1. The Tampa Bay Devil Rays crushed the Oakland Athletics, 14-3. The Texas Rangers overcame a 3-0 deficit to beat the Seattle Mariners, 5-3. And the Toronto Blue Jays defeated the Los Angeles Angels, 9-2.
In the National League, the New York Mets increased their East division lead to seven games by edging the Los Angeles Dodgers, 4-3.
The San Diego Padres won their fourth straight game, eking out a 4-3 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies. The defending World Series champion St. Louis Cardinals scored all their runs in the fifth inning to beat the Atlanta Braves, 5-3. The Arizona Diamondbacks got by the Chicago Cubs, 3-1. The Pittsburgh Pirates tripped up the Houston Astros, 4-1. The Cincinnati Reds defeated the Florida Marlins, 11-7. The Colorado Rockies beat the Washington Nationals, 5-1. And the San Francisco Giants downed the Milwaukee Brewers, 6-2.
