08/24/2007 -- Left-hander Mike Zagurski will have season-ending surgery on his right hamstring, the Philadelphia Phillies announced tonight. The surgery will take place on Monday in Pittsburgh, Pa., and will be performed by Dr. Jim Bradley, the Pittsburgh Steelers' Team Physician.

Mike Zagurski, 24, made his final appearance of the season on August 18 against the Pittsburgh Pirates at PNC Park. He injured his hamstring trying to field an infield single off the bat of Ronny Paulino. He was placed on the 15-day disabled list the next day with an avulsion of the right hamstring.

In his rookie season with the Philadelphia Phillies, Mike Zagurski went 1-0 with a 5.91 ERA in 25 games and held left-handers to a .216 (8-37) average. In 25 minor league games, he was 0-0 with a 1.39 ERA with 49 strikeouts in 32.1 innings.
