California Governor Schwarzenegger Issues Statement on California High School Exit Exam Results
08/23/2007 -- California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger issued the following statement regarding the release of the California High School Exit Exam results through May 2007.
“I am happy to see that more California students are passing the high school exit exam,” said Governor Schwarzenegger. “These results show that the hard work our students and teachers are putting forth is truly paying off.
“I am committed to providing students with the tools they need to pass the exam. That’s why my 2007-08 budget includes $72.4 million for supplemental instruction and $188.1 million for after-school and summer instruction to help students pass the exit exam. I am pleased to see improvements in the percentage of students meeting the exit exam requirements. However, it is crucial that we continue to work towards closing the achievement gap and make sure all California students have acquired the fundamental skills necessary for a successful future. ”
