Encore Telecast of "High School Musical 2" To Be Presented Thursday, Aug. 23 on Disney Channel

BURBANK, August 22, 2007 -- An encore presentation of the record-setting movie musical "High School Musical 2" will air THURSDAY, AUGUST 23 (8:00 p.m., ET/PT) on Disney Channel. The soundtrack debuted at #1 on the Billboard Top 200 chart.

Sharp-eyed viewers caught Miley Cyrus, star of Disney Channel's hit series "Hannah Montana," in the finale musical number. Cyrus cameo role was a result of a poll at DisneyChannel.com where viewers cast a total of 45 million votes that determined certain elements of the "High School Musical 2." The questions included, "Which 'Hannah Montana' star would you like to see in the movie?"

“High School Musical 2” is the most-watched basic cable telecast of all time in Total Viewers (17.2 million) and Kids 6-11 (6.1 million) and the most-watched entertainment telecast ever in Tweens 9-14 (5.9 million). Over the weekend (3 telecasts), "High School Musical 2" delivered 33.1 million unduplicated Total Viewers, 9.1 million Kids 6-11 and 8.9 million Tweens 9-14.
