Missouri AG Nixon Offers One-Stop Web Site For Consumers To Check On Recent Product Recalls
August 17, 2007 -- Jefferson City, Mo. — With recent product recalls in the United States involving everything from toys and tires to peanut butter and pet food, Missouri Attorney General Jay Nixon wants to ensure Missouri consumers have ready access to information about such recalls.
Nixon today launched a page on his Web site, ago.mo.gov/recalls, to provide a clearinghouse for information about recalls. The page brings together detailed information from various federal agencies involved in recalls, including the Food and Drug Administration, the Consumer Product Safety Commission, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Coast Guard.
“Recently, we’ve seen recalls cover everything from pet food to children’s toys,” Nixon said. “Health and safety often are very real concerns with these recalls, and consumers may miss seeing or hearing important information reported through the media. This Web page offers a one-stop resource for keeping tabs on exactly what products have been recalled and what consumers should do if they have any of the recalled products.”
Nixon said the recall Web site will be updated as new information becomes available from the various federal agencies that are involved in the recall process.
Consumers with questions or complaints about the sale of goods or services can contact or fill out a complaint form with the Missouri Attorney General’s Office online at ago.mo.gov or they can call the Consumer Protection Hotline at 1-800-392-8222.
