CIGNA HealthCare to Hire Up to 110 People for Scranton Service Center

SCRANTON, PA, August 14, 2007 – CIGNA HealthCare, located on Montage Mountain, has begun a significant recruitment drive to hire approximately 110 service specialists to support its call center and claim payment functions, as well as a few experienced managers. Employees at the Scranton Service Center provide member services and process medical, pharmacy and dental claims for CIGNA HealthCare members from across the country. The Scranton Service Center handles an average of 186,000 paper and electronic claims weekly and 60,000 calls per week. Interested candidates may apply for the positions on www.cigna.com.

CIGNA HealthCare began operating in the Scranton area in January 2000, with a small, start-up staff of three people. In September 2001, CIGNA HealthCare opened its new, three-story 189,000-square foot building in Glenmaura Business Park in scenic Montage Mountain. That building now houses the service center's 900 employees.

The CIGNA facility has state-of the-art computer and phone systems supported by 191 miles of communication cable and 10,600 feet of fiber optic cable. The building was also designed with the health and work/life needs of employees in mind. Among the five rooms designated for wellness needs are three lactation centers for nursing mothers and an indoor walking route. In addition, the facility features ergonomically correct workstations, a sound masking system to mitigate ambient noise and a full-service cafeteria that includes grilling stations.

CIGNA HealthCare employees take an active role the communities in which it does business.
