California Gov. Schwarzenegger Issues Statement on the San Francisco Bay Area’s Selection as Urban Partner by the USDOT
08/14/2007 -- California Governor Schwarzenegger today released the following statement regarding the San Francisco Bay Area’s selection for the United States Department of Transportation (USDOT) Urban Partnership Program:
“I am pleased that the San Francisco Bay Area was selected to be a part of the Urban Partnership Program. Since I introduced the Strategic Growth Plan for transportation, we have been working hard in California to develop effective solutions to reduce congestion and travel times and increase safety on our roads.
The selection of the San Francisco Bay Area will bring important new federal funds to California to address congestion.
Unfortunately, while San Diego was not selected, I do appreciate the commitment by the USDOT to continue working with them to implement parts of their proposal. I look forward to building on our partnership with the USDOT and continuing to work towards developing a world-class transportation system in California that can serve as a model for the rest of the nation.”
