Chris Dodd: Dodd Unveils Comprehensive Plan To Make College More Affordable

MANCHESTER, NH - Offering yet another bold solution to help strengthen America's middle class, Senator and Presidential Candidate Chris Dodd today unveiled a comprehensive plan to ensure that all Americans have access to affordable higher education. With a lifetime spent strengthening America's schools and a proven track record of success, Dodd's proposal is the most ambitious higher education plan by any Presidential candidate to make college affordable and accessible to every American.

Saying that a college education was the key to a strong and vibrant middle class, Dodd unveiled his plan as part of his continuing "Kitchen Table" campaign at New Hampshire Community Technical Community College in Manchester, NH.

"A strong middle class depends on access to higher education, but soaring tuition rates have put college out of reach for too many hardworking families," said Dodd. "By making student loans more affordable and providing for free community college for all, we can help middle class families and strengthen America."

Dodd's plan would:
* Reform the student loan system to ensure federal dollars go to student aid instead of corporate profits.
* Raise Pell Grants and reduce the cost of college student loans.
* Provide an opportunity for free community college to every American.
