Houston Astros to host Chicago Cubs and Milwaukee Brewers

08/02/2007, HOUSTON -- The Houston Astros return to Minute Maid Park Monday, August 6 after a six-game road trip to battle the Chicago Cubs (August 6-8) and the Milwaukee Brewers (August 10-12) in a six-game homestand.

Highlights of the homestand include: Double Play Tuesday (August 7); Aggie Night (August 8); Hunter Pence T-shirt Giveaway (August 8); Beach Night (August 10); Museum Night (August 10); Friday Night Fireworks (August 10); Coca-Cola Value Night (August 10); Berkman's Bunch (August 11); Faith and Family Night (August 11); Craig Biggio Day (August 12); and Woody's Winners (August 12).

HOMESTAND OPPONENTS

(AUGUST 6-8) CHICAGO CUBS: The Cubs will visit Houston for the first time of the 2007 season in a three-game series with the Astros at Minute Maid Park. Games are set for Monday (August 6), Tuesday (August 7), and Wednesday (August 8) at 7:05 p.m. Pitching matchups are to be announced.

(AUGUST 10-12) MILWAUKEE BREWERS: The Brewers return to Houston for the second time this season for a three-game series. Games are Friday (August 10) at 7:05 p.m., Saturday (August 11) at 6:05 p.m., and Sunday (August 12) at 1:05 p.m. Pitching matchups are to be announced.

HOMESTAND HIGHLIGHTS

(AUGUST 7) DOUBLE PLAY TUESDAY: Double Play Tuesday returns to Minute Maid Park on August 7. Fans can redeem two (2) labels from specially marked 32-oz. bottles of Powerade product at the Texas Avenue Box Office and receive two (2) Outfield Deck admission tickets to any regular season Tuesday home game for only $2. The Double Play Tuesday offer is valid for all Tuesday Astros home games throughout the 2007 regular season. Double Play Tuesday is presented by Powerade.

(AUGUST 8) AGGIE NIGHT: On Wednesday, August 8, the Astros welcome all current and former Texas A&M students for Aggie Night at Minute Maid Park. Special Aggie Night ticket prices will be available with half-price tickets and a $2 buy-back. The $2 will benefit Texas A&M Charities such as The Reveille, Howdy Club, and the Houston A&M Club. Aggie athletics teams received seven Big 12 Championship trophies last year, the most-ever by a Big 12 school in a single school year. To commemorate this accomplishment, two Aggie athletes from each of the Big 12 Championship teams will be available for autographs on the concourse level before the game. Texas A&M's athletic teams own a combined winning percentage of 70 percent.

(AUGUST 10) BEACH NIGHT: The Astros will host Beach Night at Minute Maid Park Friday, August 10. The first 15,000 fans will receive Hawaiian Leis courtesy of Arne's Texas Size Party Store. The Full Service Band will perform a free, pre-game reggae concert at the Conoco Pump from 5:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. A Giant Wave will be set up outside Larry's Big Bamboo for fans to pose with, courtesy of the Surfrider Foundation. Astros fans are encouraged to stop by the Surfrider Foundation booth throughout the week to enter to win a surfboard autographed by Astros catcher Brad Ausmus. Three finalists will be selected on August 8 and provided tickets for the August 10 game, when the Grand Prize will be awarded in a post-game ceremony. Following the game will be a beach-themed Friday Night Fireworks show presented by Marathon Oil Corporation, weather permitting.

(AUGUST 10) COCA-COLA VALUE NIGHT: Friday, August 10 is Coca-Cola Value Night. Every Friday home game throughout the regular season, fans can present one (1) coupon from a specially marked 24-pack of Coca-Cola Classic or Diet Coke at the Texas Avenue Box Office at Minute Maid Park or enter a special code online and pay $60 for the Value Nights pack (includes four (4) Mezzanine level tickets, four (4) hot dogs, four (4) Coca-Cola beverages, and two (2) Astros caps).

(AUGUST 10) MUSEUM NIGHT: The Astros will host Museum Night at Minute Maid Park on Friday, August 10. Various museums in the Greater Houston area will have displays throughout the concourse featuring their museum. The Buffalo Soldiers Museum, Children's Museum of Houston, Contemporary Arts Museum Houston, Czech Cultural Center Houston, The Health Museum, Houston Museum District, John C. Freeman Weather Museum and Lawndale Art Center will have information on museum tour times and admission fees. Joel Bartsch, President of the Houston Museum of Natural Science, will throw out the first pitch in a pre-game ceremony.

(AUGUST 11) FAITH AND FAMILY NIGHT: The Astros have teamed up with Third Coast Sports to bring Faith and Family Night to Minute Maid Park this Saturday, August 11. Astros fans must purchase a game ticket and a special concert voucher for entrance into the ballpark before the game. Astros first baseman and four-time All-Star Lance Berkman will give his personal testimony at 2:45 p.m. Recording artist Jeremy Camp will perform an exclusive pre-game concert from 3:00 - 4:00 p.m. Camp will be available for autographs on the concourse level behind home plate after the concert. Larry the Cucumber and Bob the Tomato from the animated hit series Veggie Tales will be present to take pictures with fans. Faith Nights combines music, sporting events and other faith-based elements in a unique way that is attractive to church groups and families.

(AUGUST 11) BERKMAN'S BUNCH: Houston Astros Lance Berkman, in conjunction with The Methodist Hospital System, will be hosting Berkman's Bunch (Saturday, August 11) before the Astros 6:05 p.m. game at Minute Maid Park. Berkman will meet with more than 50 children from the greater Houston area, signing autographs and providing them with gifts and tickets to the game. The Berkman's Bunch program, currently in its seventh year, allows children from the Houston area to meet Lance Berkman and attend a baseball game at Minute Maid Park before every Saturday home game.

(AUGUST 12) CRAIG BIGGIO DAY: Astros fans will celebrate the historic achievement or reaching 3,000 hits by second baseman Craig Biggio on Sunday, August 12. The first 10,000 fans will receive a Craig Biggio 3,000 Career Hits Commemorative Figurine courtesy of Coca-Cola and Food Town. The first 40,000 fans will receive a Biggio 3,000 Hits T-shirt compliments of Wells Fargo. Biggio recorded his 3,000th career hit on June 28, 2007 against the Colorado Rockies. On July 24, Biggio announced his retirement effective at the conclusion of the 2007 season. This season marks Biggio's franchise-record 20th season with the club, as he made his Major League debut on June 26, 1988.

(AUGUST 12) WOODY'S WINNERS: Astros pitcher Woody Williams, in conjunction with Special Olympics Houston, will be hosting Woody's Winners this Sunday before the 1:05 p.m. home game. Williams will meet with and sign autographs for 15 athletes from the Special Olympics Houston organization. Williams is also providing the Special Olympians with tickets and food vouchers for Sunday afternoon's game. This Sunday's Woody's Winners will be the ninth of 12 Woody's Winners events this season.

TOUR MINUTE MAID PARK

Be one of the first to see inside the Astros Clubhouse. The Houston Astros Tour Department is now offering fans an inside look at the Houston Astros Clubhouse. Fans of all ages can visit the Astros Locker Room while making stops at the Training Room, Weight Room and Batting Cage facility. This is the first time fans have had access to the Astros Clubhouse since the ballpark first opened in 2000. Be one of the first to be part of this ultimate fan experience.

This tour is limited to the first 75 people at each timeslot and tickets must be purchased in advance online at www.astros.com

The Astros also offer public tours of Minute Maid Park, allowing visitors to enjoy a behind-the-scenes look at the downtown ballpark. Fans are invited to take tours on a walk-up basis or through a private reserved group for parties of 25 or more. Educational tours are also available for children in kindergarten through eighth grade. Tours run Monday through Saturday, with three tours daily at 10:00 a.m., 12:00 noon and 2:00 p.m. The tour schedule changes on days of evening home games with the addition of a fourth tour, the Early Bird Tour, offered one hour prior to gates opening. ASTROS TICKETS

Tickets for Astros games are available on the Internet at astros.com/tickets. Tickets are also available at the Minute Maid Park Box Office on Texas Avenue, which is open 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. On game days, the box office opens at 8:30 a.m. during the week and 9:00 a.m. on weekends and remains open until 30 minutes after the final out.
