John Kerry: Kerry Applauds Plan To Make Boston Harbor "No-Discharge Zone"
08/06/2007 -- Boston - Senator John Kerry today released the following statement in regards to the proposal to designate Boston Harbor a "no-discharge zone."
"A cleaner Boston Harbor makes environmental sense and business sense," Senator Kerry said. "It's our responsibility to continue the decades-long fight to clean the harbor and protect it from further pollution so future generations can enjoy it.
The revitalization of Boston Harbor has brought new economic opportunity to the businesses at Boston's waterfront and is a powerful example of how protecting our natural resources and environment benefits our larger community. Mayor Menino has been incredibly committed and tenacious in pushing this issue from day one of his time in City Hall, and we'll do everything we can to urge the Environmental Protection Agency to move as quickly as possible on the City of Boston's application."
