Wisconsin Governor Doyle Offers Assistance to Minnesota Following Bridge Collapse
August 02, 2007 -- Wisconsin Governor Jim Doyle today offered Wisconsin's full assistance to Minnesota state officials following the tragic collapse of the interstate bridge over the Mississippi River yesterday evening.
"Wisconsin is pledging its full support and assistance to the state of Minnesota during this horrible tragedy," Governor Doyle said. "We will do anything we can to aid Minnesota officials as they continue to deal with this crisis. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families affected by this disaster."
Four people died and at least 62 people were injured in the disaster, reports say. Twenty people to 30 people remain missing, and 30 to 50 cars remain in the river.
Additional Wisconsin State Patrol personnel are stationed at the border near Hudson to coordinate additional assistance and if any relief is needed.
If any Wisconsin residents have questions or information about the whereabouts of a loved one involved in the disaster, they should contact the Wisconsin State Patrol Eau Claire Post at 715-839-3803.
