US Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts Assures President Bush He's Fine
31 July 2007 (By VOA News) -- The chief justice of the United States, John Roberts, has been released from the hospital, one day after he suffered a seizure.
White House spokesman Tony Snow said Roberts assured President Bush that he is doing well when the two men spoke by phone Tuesday, morning. He added that Roberts seemed to be in good spirits.
Earlier, the U.S. Supreme Court said Justice Roberts has fully recovered from his seizure and fall at his vacation home in the northeastern state of Maine.
Supreme Court spokeswoman Kathy Arberg, said the chief justice sustained only minor injuries. She said Roberts underwent a thorough neurological evaluation that revealed no cause for alarm.
Roberts was hospitalized overnight Monday as a precaution.
The spokeswoman said Roberts had a similar episode in 1993.
Roberts, who is 52-years-old, became chief justice in September 2005.
He succeeded William Rehnquist, who died earlier that month.
Roberts is the youngest of the nine Supreme Court justices, who all are appointed to life terms.
