Florida Governor Charlie Crist Appoints Two to Communications Office
TALLAHASSEE, July 30, 2007 – Florida Governor Charlie Crist today appointed Anthony De Luise to serve as press secretary for the Executive Office of the Governor.
“Having served in several government communications offices and large-market newsrooms, Anthony has developed a reputation for communication expertise,” said Governor Crist. “He has a wide-range of experience communicating complex issues related to insurance and property tax reform as well as the connection between a healthy environment and a strong economy. Anthony is a great fit for our communications office and we are happy to welcome him to the team.”
Anthony De Luise most recently served as the director of the office public information at the Florida Public Service Commission. He previously served as the deputy press secretary for Governor Jeb Bush and as press secretary for the Florida Department of Environmental Protection. Prior to his service in state government, De Luise worked as a news producer for both WFLA-NBC in Tampa and WJHL-CBS in Johnson City, Tennessee. He earned a Bachelor of Science in mass communications at Middle Tennessee State University.
Crist also promoted Lisa Meyer to deputy communications director for the Executive Office of the Governor.
“I am honored that Lisa has agreed to serve the administration in this expanded role,” said Governor Crist. “Her background in state government as well as nearly two decades of teaching experience, give her a unique perspective and a leadership style that has proven to be a tremendous asset to our communications office.”
Lisa Meyer most recently served as Governor Crist’s chief speechwriter. She previously served as the community relations coordinator for the Florida Department of Elder Affairs where she worked as lead writer for several statewide initiatives and edited Elder Update, the agency’s consumer newspaper. Prior to her service in state government, Meyer worked for 17 years as a high school English teacher during which time she also worked for several years as writing instructor at the Florida Indians Youth Program. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Junior High/Middle School Education at the University of Kentucky and a Master of Arts in English at Florida State University.
