July 3, 2007 -- "The Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA) decision to provide much needed public assistance disaster relief to Delaware County and the Town of Colchester is welcome news to an area that was devastated by the flooding that occurred June 19 and 20, 2007.

While we await a decision on our request for individual assistance, I would like to thank President Bush and FEMA Director R. David Paulison for their rapid response and the assistance they are providing to affected New York communities in their time of need. I also would like to thank Senators Schumer and Clinton, Congresswoman Gillibrand, and the entire New York Congressional Delegation for their support in securing this vital relief.

As I said during my visit to the area just last week, New York State agencies and personnel will continue working with county and local governments to help the people of Delaware County recover from this disaster and rebuild their lives."
