WASHINGTON - Today, the Dodd for President Campaign announced that Chris Dodd's YouTube Spotlight video garnered more channel views than any other candidate video featured on the site on its first day. Dodd, who is using his video to ask viewers to contact their senators and ask them to support the Dodd Amendment to responsibly end the War in Iraq, has been praised for his creative use of the medium. In the video, Dodd calls on citizens to get involved in promoting the Dodd Amendment to end the war, asking them to contact their elected officials and upload the responses to YouTube.

"Senator Dodd's bold leadership and innovative solutions to our nation's problems are the reason why our video has garnered the most views," said Dodd spokeswoman Christy Setzer. "We know that our nation's problems are bigger than any one of us. That's why Senator Dodd is calling for grassroots activism to end our involvement in Iraq's civil war."

In the video, Dodd also offers a critique of the media focus of this campaign and calls for a renewed commitment to reporting on the issues.

"They say they talk about haircuts instead of troop cuts, song choices instead of energy choices, Paris instead of Baghdad, because they say that's what you want to talk about," said Dodd. "Today, we have the ability to bypass the traditional media filter by participating in discussions online, through blogs and YouTube, ensuring that the important issues get the real attention that they deserve in the 2008 Presidential Campaign."

On the first day, Dodd's video channel received 108,585 views, 5,420 views more than Barack Obama, who in the first day of his Spotlight week received 103,165 channel views. Senator Dodd will continue to be featured in the YouTube Spotlight until Wednesday, July 4th.
