WINDPOWER 2007 Conference & Exhibition Will Present Plans to Advance Wind Energy at a Time of National Policy Opportunity

June 4, 2007 -- Los Angeles – From June 4-6, the WINDPOWER 2007 Conference & Exhibition will bring together industry and utility leaders, national and state policy-makers, and renewable energy advocates at the world’s largest wind energy conference and trade show ever, at the Los Angeles Convention Center in Los Angeles, Calif. With the dramatic emergence of the imperative to fight global warming, the event takes on this year an additional sense of urgency and purpose.

“Accelerating wind power development is the most readily available near-term step we can take to fight global warming,” said AWEA Executive Director Randall Swisher. “Wind generates 100 percent clean, zero-emissions electricity at a lower cost than any other power technology, and can be deployed today to meet our exponentially increasing electricity demand. WINDPOWER 2007 reflects the current vitality and future growth of the wind energy industry.”

The WINDPOWER 2007 Conference & Exhibition coincides with the increasing debate in Congress about how best to address climate change, along with America’s fast-growing energy demands. Federal lawmakers are now weighing a national renewables portfolio standard, which would require utilities to generate a growing percentage of their electricity from renewable sources.

“This is the first legislation addressing energy and climate change that the new Democratic Congressional leadership has taken up,” said Swisher. “This is an ideal opportunity for lawmakers of all parties and ideologies to help Americans capitalize on the economic and environmental benefits of wind power.”

The WINDPOWER 2007 Conference & Exhibition features:

* a spectacular Exhibition Hall spreading over 91,000 square feet;

* more than 400 companies demonstrating the latest advancements in wind energy technology, including most of the world’s largest wind turbine manufacturers;

* a 170,000-pound nacelle that is the single heaviest piece of equipment ever displayed in the Los Angeles Convention Center (the nacelle is the part of a wind turbine that sits atop the tower and houses the generator);

* a small wind pavilion displaying small wind turbines for home, farm, and small business;

* a conference program with educational sessions on a broad range of business, policy, scientific, technical, policy, financial and other topics; and

* over 6,000 attendees and wind energy professionals, up from 5,000 last year.

* The Exhibition Hall will be open to the public on Tuesday, June 5 from 4:00PM to 6:00PM.
