DoD Identifies Five Army Casualties
June 01, 2007 -- The Department of Defense announced today the death of five soldiers who were supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom.
They died May 28 in Abu Sayda, Iraq, of wounds suffered when their vehicle was struck by an improvised explosive device.
They were assigned to the 6th Squadron, 9th Cavalry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, Texas.
Killed were:
1st Lt. Kile G. West, 23, of Pasadena, Texas.
Sgt. Anthony D. Ewing, 22, of Phoenix, Arizona.
Cpl. Zachary D. Baker, 24, of Vilonia, Arkansas.
Cpl. James E. Summers, III, 21, of Bourbon, Missouri.
Spc. Alexandre A. Alexeev, 23, of Wilmington, California.
