NHL Title Series: Ottawa Senators Beat Anaheim Ducks in Game 3
03 June 2007 -- The Ottawa Senators beat the Anaheim Ducks 5-3 to win their first game in the National Hockey League championship series.
Ottawa lost the first two games of the best-of-seven series, but rebounded Saturday. Game four is Monday in Ottawa.
The Senators rallied three times from a one-goal deficit before taking the lead at the end of the second period.
One of their three middle period goals was a controversial power play tally by Ottawa captain Daniel Alfredsson that was verified by replay officials. Alfredsson broke a scoring slump, and he leads the NHL with 11 playoff goals.
The go-ahead goal was credited to Ottawa's Dean McAmmond, but it actually was a mistake by Anaheim's Chris Pronger, who accidentally deflected the puck into his own net.
The Ducks' All-Star defenseman knocked McAmmond to the ice in the third period. The Ottawa left wing left the game with a head injury. Pronger could face his second suspension of the playoffs for the violent hit.
The Eastern Conference Senators are making their first appearance in the NHL finals. The Western Conference Ducks only other trip to the championship series was in 2003, when they lost the Stanley Cup to the New Jersey Devils.
