NBA Playoffs: Cleveland Cavaliers Beat Detroit Pistons, Advance to Finals
03 June 2007 -- The National Basketball Association championships are set after the Cleveland Cavaliers won four straight games to eliminate the Detroit Pistons in the Eastern Conference finals.
Cleveland beat visiting Detroit 98-82 Saturday to win the best-of-seven series four-games-to-two.
Rookie Daniel Gibson scored 19 of his season-high 31 points in the fourth quarter, including five three-point shots, to lead the Cavaliers' second-half surge. Superstar LeBron James added 20 points and 14 rebounds for Cleveland.
The Cavaliers are only the third team in NBA history to rally from a two-games-to-none deficit in a conference finals.
Saturday's victory gives the Cavaliers the Eastern Conference title, and sends them to the NBA championship series for the first time in team history.
Cleveland will take on the Western Conference champion San Antonio Spurs for the NBA title. Game one of that best-of-seven series is June seventh in San Antonio.
