New Hampshire Governor Lynch Statement on Death of Franconia Police Corporal Bruce McKay

May 12, 2007 -- New Hampshire Governor John Lynch released the following statement today on the death of Franconia Police Corporal Bruce McKay:

“This terrible tragedy has impacted families, the Franconia area and the entire state of New Hampshire. My thoughts and prayers, and those of my wife Susan, are with the family of Cpl. McKay, whose courage, service and commitment to protecting others is an example for us all.

“This senseless tragedy serves as a terrible reminder of the dangers our law enforcement officers face everyday. I ask the people of New Hampshire to honor the sacrifice of Cpl. McKay, and to join me in supporting his family, his fellow officers and the community in this difficult time.”

Gov. Lynch has directed all American and State flags be flown at half-staff until further notice. On Saturday, Gov. Lynch met with members of the Franconia community to offer his condolences and assistance.
