FEMA Administrator To Tour Greensburg, Kansas Tornado Disaster Area
May 6, 2007 -- WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The administrator of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), R. David Paulison, announced today that he will personally visit the disaster-affected area of Greensburg, Kan.
Paulison departs early Monday morning, May 7, arriving in Greensburg at approximately 11:30 a.m. local time. Also joining the administrator are Governor Kathleen Sebelius, Senator Sam Brownback (R-KS), and Congressmen Jerry Moran (R-1st) and Todd Tiahrt (R-4th).
This series of tornadoes has been devastating to the residents of Greensburg, said Administrator Paulison. Im going to head to Greensburg to speak with the disaster victims and local officials to ensure the federal government is doing everything it can to assist in the recovery.
Residents and business owners who sustained losses in the designated counties can begin applying for disaster assistance by registering online at http://www.fema.gov or by calling 1-800-621-FEMA(3362) or 1-800-462-7585 (TTY) for the hearing and speech impaired. The toll-free telephone numbers will operate daily from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. (CDT).
